Grey & White inspiration

Traducción al Español

As you know, we are planning to buy a new house, and latetly it comes to my head the grey and white combination.

Is curious, because when we bought our current home I only could think in beige and dark brown or dark grey, but now I have change to cold and bright tones.

So, here I am wasting hours through Pinterest looking for inspiration and ideas. I share with you few of them:

This design of Home Designing is really nice, at least in the TV side, the rest seems improbable having kids at home XD

These are quite classic designs but I like them too. Seen at Arcadian-Home

I like a lot the idea of giving a bit of color to the room like Luxury Home Decorations but I'm afraid I'm not a red color fan...

I have some things decided, I want walls in soft grey, the sofa will come also in grey (not too pale) and the furniture probably in white, now I have to visualize how it would look the center table that I want, one made of hard wood and iron, like this from Gloss & Raffles.

And you? Do you have any favourite color combination?

Homemade ham croquettes

Traducción al Español

Well I think that if there is just a traditional recipe that everybody loves at home is the croquettes recipe. Today I'm going to share with you the ham croquettes recipe, but you may prepare the dough with almost anything you want, I use to prepare it with cod.

Homemade ham croquettes

Ingredients:

 - 2 butter tablespoon
 - 3 flour tablespoon
 - milk
 - salt
 - serrano ham (or prosciutto) in small pieces (the amount depends on what you want I used a box of 100gr)
 - eggs (I needed 3)
 - bread crumbs

How to prepare croquettes:
First of all we should prepare a white sauce (bechamel), we put the butter in a large pan, we heat it until it melts, then we add the flour and we fry it in the butter, then we start adding the milk slowly and stiring the mix with a wire whip to make an uniform dough without lumps (this is the worst part because you have to put a bit of milk, stir it, then a bit more, and so until you have a consistent and  smooth bechamel)

Then we add salt and try it until it has a nice taste (be careful with the salt amount because now we have to add the ham)

Take the mix off the heat and add the ham (cut in small pieces) and stir the dough to spread the ham.

In case you made cod croquettes, you should cook the cod before adding it to the dough.

Now we have to let it cool, for the rest of the recipe we are going to use the hands and we don't want to burn ourselves.

Is it already cold? Ok, so let's continue...

Now we beat two eggs (If you see that you will need more, you should add one more)

We take a portion of the dough with a teaspoon, we coat it in batter,

when in the bread crumbs we give it a cylindrical shape:

And we coat it in batter once again and let them prepared in a dish.

Now, they are ready to fry in abundant oil or to preserve them in the fridge or in the freezer.

It's quite easy, isn't it?

At last, we are virus free!

Traducción al Español

Well, well, it seemed difficult to believe but finally seems that there are no virus at home, after a winter full of snots, coughs and to make it funnier the Chickenpox, it seems that finally, with the arrival of this hot spring that just made its appearance, we say goodbye to the virus (I think it is the first time in my life I'm glad with the arrival of the heat...)

As I said, the chickenpox, OMG what awful weeks has given us, first Adrian, we went with him to the Emergencies and the doctor gave him an antiviral to reduce the spots, and well it passed without too much trouble, one night if he had 39º of fever, but the rest of illness days were fine, with appetite, lively with sporadic itching.

Ah, my friend, but two weeks later it began Daniel, we did exactly the same, we took him to the Emergencies but in this case, the doctor who was attending was not in favor of antivirals and the poor, I don't know if because of not giving him an antiviral or because of being exposed to the virus for so long, he spent four days with fever, raging for itching and his skin like this:

Chickenpox kid

Two days sleeping really bad, he woke up because of the itches and barely eating because everything bothered him. But anyway, at least, is a 'quick' disease and a week later, all spots are scabs

and now is him again.

A little more information about chickenpox:

Is a viral infection that causes blisters all over the body.
The chickenpox rash appears between 10 and 21 days after being infected.
It is contagious from two days before appearing rash and until all the blisters are crusted.
Children who have been vaccinated may also develop in a much milder way and also can transmit it.

Treatment:

Mainly patience, we just put them Talquistina to relieve itching and Cristalmina to help dry blisters, well, and antivirals in case your doctor want them to prescribe them...

How to be more productive in the mornings

Traducción a Español

OMG we have had a horrible night at home, miniSuperBoy is having chickenpox and is awful, although the poor kid was quite sleepy, he woke up because of the burning, he fell asleep and a few minutes later he started moving until he woke up again, so this last night we have slept for 3 hours, more or less...

This morning I had two options, one was crawling in pajamas at home and probably be late to all places or the other one was to put into practice some tips I've been reading in many freelance productivity and lifestyle blogs. And hey, the morning hasn't been as bad as I thought.

1. Get dressed first.
I don't know about you, but
I usually get accommodated in my pajamas and I don't use to take it off until 10 minutes before leaving, but if are in a hurry is better to prepare us first, collect nightclothes and wear the clothes for the day gives you a feeling of having everything already half prepared.

2. Ventilate and make the bedThe feeling of fresh air and the bed made, makes us feelinkg like almost half  of the to do list is done in the morning, you know those things we leave for the last 10 minutes before leaving home, better to leave now done and you will see how it changes the perspective.

3. Eat breakfast and do some things in the kitchen. This is what I use to do the first, but today has gone in third place. As I start to heat the milk (in low heat to avoid a milk flood) I empty the dishwasher and even start to prepare the first course of the meal while I'm eating breakfast.

4. Follow with your stuff. From here we have removed from the list what we should do in any case and we are ready to continue our routine, get to work, read, check emails or start waking up the kids.

Today this change on my routine has been quite useful since miniSuperBoy following has also awakened quite early with what that means, is just impossible to try to do things when you have an ill baby who claims to be in arms all the time...

Learning to add

Traducción al Español

OMG how quick runs the time, my little boy is 4 years old (almost 5) and he is already learning to add.

In the school they use a system where they work in pairs, they have two dice and a lot of little pieces. The dice are numerals, one with numbers from 1 to 6 and the other one from 5 to 10. Each boy throws the die and take as many pieces as the number he gets and then between both boys have to add the total.

But, as I don't have that kind of material at home, I have to invent something.

And, to change a bit, I made some similar but with rubber dice (from the dollar store) with dots, like those traditional of table games, and a blackboard to make him familiar with writing the result.

For having just started the exercise it was quite fine :)

The exercise is easy, the kid throws a die, I throw the other one, we note the addition and he counts the dots. The first time I wrote the additions, the next one, it was him who wrote everything, the addition and the result, but I have to say that he needed all the blackboard for just an addition XD.
