If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I use to wake up at 5.30 AM to practice yoga and start my day with serenity.

At this moment you will probably get bored of knowing about people that get up super-early and that have read the 5AM club and have some kind of revelation, well, I'm just writing about my experience, it's my case, so if you find it useful, well great fot you...

Why to wake up so early?

Well, in my case I have an awful work schedule, I work from 9 to 1 and from 3 to 7.

Maybe it doesn't sound to you too bad, but the reallity is that I leave my house at 8.30a.m. to take the kids to the school, I get back home at 1.15p.m., to cook (or finish cooking) the lunch, I leave again to pick up to one of the kids at 1.40p.m., I go back home at 2.10p.m., I take lunch (just to call it somehow) and go back to work at 2.40p.m. till I get back home at 7.15p.m., that if I don't have to go to buy something or kids don't have any activity, if not, I get home at 8p.m. then we prepare the dinner and eat it before 9p.m.

Sooo, let's review those numbers, more than 12 hours of going and coming in and out of home-work-school (having 2 hours for the lunch in Spain it's a big waste of time...)

My back and my sedentary metabolism work a lot better with the yoga practice, but... when to practice it?

Well, and when to do anything else that watching anything in Netflix after dinner...

Solution: at the very first hour.

What time to get up?

To me is a kind of count back.

Kids get up at 7.30 and my hubbie at 6.30, so, if I wake up at 6.30 as my husband, and I have to take breakfast, prepare things for school or prepare part of the lunch, I have around half hour for me.

So, I calculated, I use to go to bed around 10.30p.m., so, at 5.30a.m., I've been sleeping for almos 7 hours and for me that's enough.

At first I woke up at 5a.m. and I made yoga sessions of 40-50 minutes but then I get bored and started procrastinating, so now I get up at 5.30 and I practice 20 minutes of yoga.

Once finished the yoga, I do some tasks related to my extra income, edit some photographies, write posts for blogs or learn something in a course.

Then I take breakfast when my hubbie wakes up, and from then I do everything I have to for school or home and then I have my reading time.

So when kids wake up at 7.30, I'm totally operative and I have half of my to do list done.

In internet you'll find a lot of tips to wake up early, such as limit the caffeine intake, place the alarm far from you, bringin forward the waking-up hour or having a reward with a special breakfast...

You know what? Maybe it could work but I thing that what really will work for you is to make a bit of self-reflection, think about the benefits of waking up early, what are you going to do in that extra time, be conscious about why to do it and just star doing in.

Good luck ;)
